PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Alexander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Justice Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alexander comes into the arena with Ready to Die- Andrew WK blaring out of the sound system. Justice Evans is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jimmy Alexander!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Justice Evans!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alexander shoots for a double leg takedown but Evans sprawls well. He's pushed Alexander's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Evans avoids the head kick by Alexander.
Alexander takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Evans throws a nice looking combination but Alexander bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Evans bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Alexander's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Evans tries to move to mount but Alexander blocks the move with his legs.
Alexander parries the strikes from Evans easily there. Evans is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Alexander to escape.

Evans wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Alexander, who protects the arm well.
Evans in side control, throwing shots but Alexander defends.
You can see the frustration on Alexander's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Evans wants to lay and pray for a moment but Alexander keeps working.
Evans tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Alexander lands with a kick to the temple. Evans shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Evans goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Evans fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Alexander shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Alexander showed some decent athleticism there.
Evans regains full guard. Nicely done.

Alexander wants to control from the top but Evans keeps moving.

Evans working for a triangle but Alexander defends it easily.
Alexander wants to control from the top but Evans keeps moving.

Evans wants to control the position but Alexander says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Evans manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Alexander is breathing heavily.

Evans has his foot on Alexander's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Alexander works his way back into a safe position though.

Alexander knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Evans on the ground.

Evans is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Alexander wants to get up but he can't break Evans's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Evans working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Alexander doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Alexander manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Evans manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Evans won't let Alexander get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Alexander could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The referee warns Alexander that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Alexander is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Alexander is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Evans has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Evans is working for a guillotine from mount but Alexander frees his head quite easily.
Alexander tries to hold on but Evans pushes him away.
Evans in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
You get the feeling that Alexander really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Alexander is in all sorts of trouble here.

Evans stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Alexander.
Alexander misses with a looping left.
Evans misses with a body shot.
Evans stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Alexander is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Evans scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Nice takedown defense from Alexander. No joy for Evans on that attempt.
Evans fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Alexander has closed the distance and engaged Evans in a clinch.

Alexander breaks the clinch.
Evans avoids the head kick by Alexander.
A left and a right from Evans both land. Nice combination.
Alexander throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Evans.
Evans lands with a thumping leg kick.

Alexander shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Evans is trying to maintain the position but Alexander is very close to passing his half guard.
Evans is looking for a sweep. Alexander is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Alexander winds up and cracks Evans with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Evans controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Evans is trying to maintain the position but Alexander is very close to passing his half guard.
Evans is trying to get back to full guard.
Evans is refusing to be controlled, as Alexander sits in half guard.
Evans moves into full guard.
Evans lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Alexander!
Alexander is in all sorts of trouble here.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Alexander tries to lock up and control but Evans gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Evans has hold of Alexander's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Alexander manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Alexander is looking to get to half guard.
Alexander trying desperately to get to his feet.

Evans wants to finish this one by submission but Alexander is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Evans.
Alexander wants to control but Evans is having none of it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alexander is looking to improve his position but Evans isn't that keen on the idea.
Evans lands with some strikes.
Evans unloads with some shots from mount but Alexander bucks and avoids them well.
Alexander wants to control but Evans is having none of it.
Alexander is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Evans is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Evans throws some wild stikes that Alexander manages to avoid easily.
Alexander is working to get back to half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Evans working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Alexander looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Evans! Submission of the night perhaps?
