PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dat Sik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jenji Ueda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ueda comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Requiem for a Dream kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Jenji Ueda!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yuuki Gou and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sik avoids the elbow strike from Ueda, against the cage.
Ueda misses with a knee strike.

Sik ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ueda moves away.
Ueda shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sik as he avoids it easily.

Sik moves into range and connects with a jab.

Ueda rushes Sik and presses him up against the cage.

and Sik counters with a three punch combo that has Ueda backing up. Ueda nods at Sik to acknowledge the strikes.

and Sik counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Ueda wants to clinch but Sik slips to the side

Sik misses with a head kick.
Ueda closes the distance looking to clinch

Ueda cracks a nice hook into Sik's ribs.

Ueda moves to clinch but Sik breaks away

Dat Sik is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ueda doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Sik makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Ueda really felt that one!

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Sik checks a leg kick.

Sik pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Ueda back to the cage. Sik follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Ueda darts in trying to clinch
and Sik counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Ueda fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Dat Sik is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Sik connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
A punch lands to the side of Ueda 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Ueda is stalling here. Sik is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Ueda seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Sik has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Sik tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sik has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Ueda dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Sik. That did some damage!

Ueda is trying hard to land a takedown here. Sik sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Sik throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ueda stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sik, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
