PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Matthew McPain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenny Scylla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McPain comes to the cage accompanied by Killing in the Name. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Kenny Scylla was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Matthew McPain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenny Scylla!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scylla will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Scylla throws a left and a right that both miss
and McPain counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Scylla fails with a takedown attempt.
Scylla gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and McPain counters with a nice uppercut.
Scylla takes a swing at McPain's ribcage but misses.
Scylla swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Scylla takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
McPain defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Scylla.

Scylla shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. McPain manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Scylla is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

McPain is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Scylla's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Scylla's back!
McPain controlling well, preventing Scylla from escaping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Scylla is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Scylla is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by McPain.
Scylla tries to escape but McPain has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
McPain is trying to stick to Scylla's back but Scylla is turning into McPain. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in McPain's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Scylla.

Scylla is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! McPain is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! McPain has escaped and now he's on top!

Scylla is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
McPain slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Scylla is looking for a triangle but McPain pushes his legs off easily.
McPain's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Scylla is trying to keep McPain in close.

Scylla escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McPain gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Scylla throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! McPain escapes and throws Scylla's legs to the side, diving into side control!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Scylla trying to control but McPain flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
McPain keeps control of the position as Scylla tries to break free.
McPain is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Scylla tries to roll but McPain sticks to his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

McPain throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

McPain connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Scylla changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. McPain tries to avoid it but Scylla manages to keep hold of a leg and drag McPain to the ground. McPain escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
McPain catches Scylla with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
McPain fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
McPain throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Scylla on the side of the head.

Scylla has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
McPain ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

The fighters circle momentarily. McPain darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
