Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Justin Hale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henry Pollock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Henry Pollock is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Justin Hale!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Henry Pollock!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Bruno Hogan and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hale jabs at Pollock's body.
Pollock looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Hale fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Justin Hale seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pollock moves out of range of the body kick from Hale.
Hale lands a slapping body shot.
Hale misses the jab.
Pollock keeps the fight on the outside.

Pollock gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Hale in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Pollock keeping moving, preventing Hale from controlling successfully.
Hale with a flurry of punches that miss.

Hale drops back looking for a leg! Pollock is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pollock manages to kick Hale off! Hale jumps back into Pollock's guard.
Hale trying to control but Pollock is working from the bottom.
Hale pushes down on Pollock's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Hale wants to stand up but Pollock has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Hale missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pollock is trying to control but can't.
Hale trying to control from half guard but Pollock is working away.
Pollock wants to get back to full guard.
Hale sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Pollock defending well though.
Hale wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pollock keeps working.
Hale looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Hale moves nicely into side control.

Hale is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Pollock knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Hale has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Hale decides to stand back up.
Hale lands a two punch combo.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Hale is looking to clinch but Pollock is avoiding it.
Hale chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Hale misses with a double jab.
Hale misses with a straight left.

A combination from Hale does no damage.
Sloppy strikes from Hale. Those never looked like landing.
Hale thuds his right hand into Pollock's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Pollock slips a jab and a cross from Hale.
Hale looks to land a combination. Pollock sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Hale wants to clinch.
Hale with a body punch. A glancing blow.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hale throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Hale cracks a nice hook into Pollock's ribs.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hale moves in looking to clinch but Pollock pushes him off.
Hale tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Pollock was well out of range. Poor timing from Hale.
Hale scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Hale looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hale fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hale misses with an uppercut. Pollock saw that one coming.
Hale throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Pollock counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Hale escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pollock gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Hale looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pollock is one step ahead there.
Hale is adopting a defensive guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hale is on top in guard.
Pollock is breathing heavily.

Hale content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Hale thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Hale drops back looking for a leg! Pollock is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pollock manages to kick Hale off! Hale jumps back into Pollock's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hale thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Hale missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Hale drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hale jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Hale wants to control from the top but Pollock keeps moving.
Hale passes Pollock's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Hale throwing shots but Pollock is blocking nicely.
Hale thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Pollock's head.
Hale with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Hale is keen to just control but Pollock is a slippery customer.

Hale is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Pollock doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hale.

Hale is trying to work for a kimura but Pollock is defending well.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Hale throws a one two combo.
Justin Hale is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hale throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Pollock counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Hale throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Hale bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pollock's guard.
Hale postures up in Pollock's guard and throws a big left but Pollock blocks it.
Pollock preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Hale is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Pollock takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Hale drops back looking for a leg! Pollock is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pollock manages to kick Hale off! Hale jumps back into Pollock's guard.

Hale forces his way into half guard.
Hale is pressing down on Pollock's thigh, looking to free his foot. Pollock is holding on for now.
Hale is looking to take a break and control but Pollock is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hale works his foot free and advances to mount.
Hale lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Pollock hang on?
Hale wants to control the pace but Pollock is squirming around nicely.

Hale has control of Pollock's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Pollock regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Pollock blocking the ground and pound.
Hale trying to control but Pollock is having none of it.
Pollock really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Henry Pollock has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hale is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Justin Hale is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Hale lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Pollock hang on?

Hale is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Hale's corner calls for a 1-2. Hale obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Pollock dodges the punch combination from Hale.
Pollock avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hale swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Hale throws a right and a left that both miss.
Hale fails with an attempt to clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!
Justin Hale showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Hale has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
