Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Edwin Meadows (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Viktor Sol (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Meadows comes to the cage accompanied by Punky's Whips. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 1, fighting out of New York, Edwin Meadows!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Viktor Sol!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, John Roberts and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sol takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Sol uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Meadows.
Sol defending well as Meadows loads up on a big left hand.

Sol drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Meadows tries to improve position but can't.
Sol lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Meadows wants to control but Sol postures up.
Meadows is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Sol trying to control the action but Meadows is working from the bottom.
Sol throws an elbow but Meadows slips to the side and avoids it well.
Meadows taking a bit of punishment here - Sol scoring with strikes.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Sol tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sol has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Sol thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Meadows is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Sol has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Sol is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Meadows knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Meadows tries to buck Sol off but Sol is having none of it.
Meadows manages to get back to half guard.
Meadows is looking for a sweep. Sol is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Sol postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Meadows is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sol, into his guard.

Sol throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Sol has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Meadows can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Meadows wants to control from the top but Sol keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Viktor Sol dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Sol dives in and grabs Meadows's left leg, looking for a takedown. Meadows pushes down on Sol's head and hops out.
Sol has his takedown stuffed
and Meadows counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
A jab from Meadows misses.
Meadows throws an overhand right that lands on Sol's shoulder, as Sol tries to avoid the shot.

Sol closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Sol creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Meadows sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Meadows is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Sol won't allow Meadows to get back to his feet.
Meadows is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sol trying to control the position from guard on top but Meadows is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Meadows bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sol's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sol utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Sol throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Meadows escapes and throws Sol's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Sol sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Meadows wants to control but Sol is keeping him busy.
Meadows wants to pass to mount but Sol is defending the position.
Meadows is trying to control. Sol wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Meadows prevents Sol from improving his position.
Sol has hold of Meadows's hands but Meadows slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Sol wants to improve his position but Meadows is controlling well.
Sol is looking to control Meadows's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sol avoid being mounted?

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Meadows wants to control but Sol is keeping him busy.
Meadows seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

We're going to have a standup here because Edwin Meadows wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Meadows misses with an uppercut.
Meadows is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Sol.
Sol slips under a jab.
Meadows catches Sol with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Meadows throws a jab but it's blocked by Sol.
Sol swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

and Sol counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Meadows manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Meadows looking to control and managing it successfully.
Sol gets back to half guard.
Meadows trying to control the action but Sol is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Edwin Meadows will probably get the nod.
That's time! Meadows's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Meadows swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Sol gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Meadows looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Meadows wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Sol is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Meadows gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Sol not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Sol scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Meadows tries to get to full guard but Sol has control of the leg.

Sol is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Meadows is just riding it out for now. Sol eventually gives up the hold.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Sol working the head and body with strikes.
Meadows is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Sol is looking for a kimura but Meadows is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sol to get the leverage.
Meadows is trying to control but can't.
Meadows regains full guard. Nicely done.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Sol lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Sol thows a big elbow that misses.
Meadows is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Sol has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Sol thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Meadows holds on and takes a little breather.

Sol looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Meadows has picked Sol up and slammed him! Sol can't keep hold of the triangle and Meadows manages to pass to side control!

Viktor Sol comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Sol has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
