Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Solo Green (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christopher Eccleston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Green's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Jethro Tull. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Christopher Eccleston enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Solo Green!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Christopher Eccleston!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Emerson Jorge and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Green tried to score with a low kick but Eccleston checks it.
Eccleston has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Eccleston there as he acknowledges the shot.
Eccleston shoots in for a double leg but Green sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Green misses the jab.
Green looks for the body kick but Eccleston saw that one coming.
Eccleston fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Green manages to avoid it.

Green rushes Eccleston and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Eccleston is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Green gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Eccleston breaks from the clinch.
Eccleston shoots in for a takedown but Green shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Solo Green has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Christopher Eccleston.
Green looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Eccleston doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Green counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Green lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Green throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Green clinches up with Eccleston and pushes him back against the cage.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Eccleston has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Green is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Green prevents a takedown attempt there.
Eccleston is working for takedown but Green is calmly controlling the position for now.

Green will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Eccleston up against the cage.

Eccleston can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Green controls the pace.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Eccleston can do anything to dispel that myth.

Green stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Eccleston swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Green looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Solo Green just wasn't active enough.
Green slaps away a takedown attempt from Eccleston, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Green tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Eccleston manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Eccleston swings for the body but Green moves out of range.
Eccleston misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Green makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
This has been an exciting period of action!

and Green holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Eccleston has Green pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Green manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Eccleston is trying desperately to land a takedown but Green is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Eccleston.
Eccleston drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Green gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Eccleston swats away the attempt to clinch by Green.

Green feints and as Eccleston raises his hands in defense, Green changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Green looking to sit in guard and control but Eccleston gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Green is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Green seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Eccleston postures up in Green's guard and throws a big left but Green blocks it.

Green has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Eccleston can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Eccleston is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fight stays on the outside here - Green looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Eccleston shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Green manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Green has his foot on Eccleston's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Eccleston works his way back into a safe position though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Green not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Maybe Green would be better served going for some more strikes rather than trying to control so much.

Green's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Green cracks a nice hook into Eccleston's ribs.
Eccleston looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Green throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Green dives in and scores a takedown into Eccleston's guard.

and Green counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Eccleston fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A slapping body kick lands there for Green.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Green tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Green is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Eccleston can do to turn this around?
Green throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Eccleston stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Green dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Green connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Eccleston's hands.
Eccleston shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Green as he jumps to the side.
Green digs a good hook to Eccleston's body.
Eccleston doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Green's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Eccleston is squirming around, avoiding Green's attempts to control the action.
Green is trying to control here but Eccleston has managed to regain half guard.

Green is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Eccleston doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Green.
Eccleston wants to improve his position but Green is controlling well.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Green can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Eccleston is looking to escape.

Green is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Eccleston has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Eccleston!

Green looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Eccleston throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Green works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Solo Green is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Eccleston scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Eccleston stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Green swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Green has momentary wrist control but Eccleston slips an elbow through the middle.

Solo Green showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Green has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
