PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hoger Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kari Peippo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peippo is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Public Enemy - Terminator X to the Edge of Panic . Kari Peippo told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie shoots and misses
and Peippo counters with a straight right hand.
Some bone on bone action there as Gracie checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Peippo throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gracie sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Gracie tries for a takedown but Peippo circles away easily

and Peippo counters with a shoot takedown. Gracie fights it but they end up in guard.
Peippo tries to free his leg and advance position but Gracie is retaining full guard.

Gracie looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Peippo pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gracie is keeping the position for now.
Peippo thows a big elbow that misses.

Peippo drops back looking for a leg! Gracie is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gracie manages to kick Peippo off! Peippo jumps back into Gracie's guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Peippo is looking to stand up but Gracie won't let him.

Gracie wants to sweep here but Peippo controlling him for the moment.

Peippo drops back looking for a leg! Gracie is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gracie manages to kick Peippo off! Peippo jumps back into Gracie's guard.
Peippo cracks Gracie with a solid left hand.
Peippo stays in close to Gracie's body and controls the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Peippo tries to free his leg and advance position but Gracie is retaining full guard.

Peippo is sitting in close to Gracie's body. Gracie has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Peippo is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Peippo is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Gracie.
