PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Michael Millar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Fortez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Millar kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is we are the champions. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Fortez!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fortez changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Millar looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Fortez is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Millar is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Millar can't do much from the bottom here.
Millar manages to work his way to half guard, despite Fortez's best efforts.
Millar is looking to control Fortez's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Millar avoid being mounted?
Millar flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Millar is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Fortez is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Fortez is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Millar can't fight it off and eventually Fortez manages to take the fight to the floor. Millar looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Fortez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Millar has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Fortez has managed to get both his arms back between Millar's legs - danger averted.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jason Fortez wasn't active enough on the ground.

Fortez shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Millar's guard.

Fortez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Fortez takes a little break here. Millar wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Millar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

and Fortez counters by moving into the clinch.

Fortez is pushing Millar up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Millar is trying to break the clinch but Fortez is controlling him.
Michael Millar has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jason Fortez is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Fortez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Millar walks away with a smile on his face. Fortez gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Fortez throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jason Fortez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Fortez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
