PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gary Sandusky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Cullen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sandusky's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Ice Ice Baby. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Richard Cullen was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gary Sandusky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Richard Cullen!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Chad Campbell and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sandusky throws an off balance right hand
and Cullen counters with a nice uppercut.
Sloppy strikes from Cullen. Those never looked like landing.
Cullen leaves Sandusky with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

and Cullen counters with a right hand to the body.

Sandusky is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Cullen doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Sandusky.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Sandusky misses with a head shot. Cullen uses the momentum to regain guard.
Sandusky tries to free his leg and advance position but Cullen is retaining full guard.
Sandusky throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cullen works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Cullen lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Cullen is pushing Sandusky up against the ropes, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Cullen is pressed up against the ropes. Sandusky has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Cullen down to the mat. Cullen avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Gary Sandusky seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sandusky shoots in for a double leg but Cullen sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Cullen wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

and Cullen counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

and Cullen counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Sandusky swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Cullen counters with a series of strikes. Sandusky will be more careful next time no doubt.

Richard Cullen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Cullen wants to stand back up but Sandusky manages to pass into side control.
Sandusky connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Cullen some visible discomfort.
Cullen wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Sandusky throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Sandusky has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Cullen on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

Sandusky throws a strike aimed at the side of Cullen's head but Cullen avoids it well.

Cullen wants to stand but Sandusky is controlling his arm.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Sandusky tries to buck Cullen off but Cullen is having none of it.
Sandusky manages to work his way to half guard, despite Cullen's best efforts.
