The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Caldwell lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Davis backs up against the cage.

It looks like Roman Davis has been cut.
Caldwell stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Davis.
Caldwell swings for the body but Davis moves out of range.
Davis throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Caldwell's head.
Caldwell throws a right and a left that both miss.
Caldwell lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Davis circles away quickly and effectively.
Caldwell misses the body punch

and Davis counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Davis.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Davis is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Davis seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Caldwell does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Caldwell has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Davis is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
