The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nikki dives in and scores a takedown into Gutierrez's guard.

Nikki postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Gutierrez is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Nikki, into his guard.
Gutierrez works over Nikki with some ground and pound from guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nikki working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Gutierrez.
Gutierrez is looking to work some ground and pound but Nikki has wrist control.
Nikki has momentary wrist control but Gutierrez slips an elbow through the middle.
Gutierrez wants to pass the guard but Nikki is keeping the position.
Gutierrez throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Nikki works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Gutierrez avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Nikki is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Gutierrez keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Nikki's head.
Gutierrez loads up on a big left hand. Nikki felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Gutierrez looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Nikki can't hide his disappointment, as Gutierrez celebrates the victory.
