Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tiago Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bert Ernie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mendez comes to the cage accompanied by Trap Door. Ernie has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mendez has closed the distance and engaged Ernie in a clinch.
Ernie looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Mendez pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Mendez has taken the fight to the clinch.

Mendez ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mendez no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Mendez has control of Ernie's left arm, preventing Ernie from doing any damage.
Mendez wants to sweep here but Ernie controlling him for the moment.

Tiago Mendez has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Mendez moves into the clinch.
Mendez is pressed up against the cage. Ernie has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mendez down to the mat. Mendez avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Mendez is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Ernie's half guard.

Mendez decides to stand and escape the position.

Mendez scores with the left hand. Ernie knows he should have avoided that one.
Ernie is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Tiago Mendez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mendez shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
The referee warns Ernie that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Mendez's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Ernie looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Mendez! Submission of the night perhaps?
