Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tonie Carrol!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ashur Syrian!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Gwen Towbar and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carrol will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Syrian displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Carrol throws out the jab.

Syrian throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Carrol was covering up waiting for the punch and Syrian finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Syrian is looking to work some ground and pound but Carrol has wrist control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Syrian keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Carrol's head.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Syrian accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Syrian has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Carrol tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Syrian wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Carrol is not content to let Syrian control the position.

The ground and pound from Syrian seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Syrian is looking to take a break and control but Carrol is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Syrian is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Carrol's shoulder. That is not cool.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ashur Syrian dominated that round.
That's time! Carrol's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Carrol gets caught flat footed, as Syrian shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Syrian stands up over Carrol, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Syrian scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Syrian in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Syrian is working Carrol over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Carrol is looking to get back to full guard here but Syrian has managed to pass to side control instead.

Syrian works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

It looks like Tonie Carrol has been cut.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Carrol takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Ashur Syrian has got the better of the ground game so far.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Carrol is working to avoid the ground and pound but Syrian connects with a decent elbow.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Tonie Carrol's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
