PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Isaac Hamm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Riley Freeman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Riley Freeman will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Isaac Hamm!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Riley Freeman!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Freeman stuffs the takedown attempt from Hamm. Hamm gets slowly back to his feet.
Hamm checks a low kick from Freeman.
Freeman scores with a decent looking hook.
Freeman's jab looks to have found its range, popping Hamm under the eye.
Freeman scores with a hook to the body. Hamm takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Freeman lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Freeman stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Hamm throws a head kick but Freeman moves out of range.
Hamm tries to close the distance and clinch but Freeman swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Freeman defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hamm.

Hamm closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Freeman quickly recovers to half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Freeman is looking to control Hamm's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Freeman avoid being mounted?
Hamm missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Hamm not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Hamm throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Freeman keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Freeman wants to control but Hamm is keeping busy.

Freeman tries to get to full guard but Hamm has control of the leg.

Hamm is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Freeman is just riding it out for now. Hamm eventually gives up the hold.

Hamm is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Freeman has managed to free his arm - good work.
Hamm sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Freeman defending well though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Hamm is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Freeman doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hamm.
Hamm trying to control the action but Freeman is working from the bottom.

Hamm is working for a submission of some sort.

Hamm is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Freeman tries to get to full guard but Hamm has control of the leg.
Hamm winds up and cracks Freeman with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Hamm throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Hamm wants to lay and pray for a moment but Freeman keeps working.
Hamm thows a huge punch but Freeman dodges it nicely.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Freeman can do anything to dispel that myth.
Hamm stops Freeman from getting back to his feet.
Hamm throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Hamm not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hamm not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Hamm is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Freeman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hamm. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hamm is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Freeman defends it well.
Freeman is trying to get back to full guard.
Hamm thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Freeman's head.
Freeman is trying to stand.

Hamm is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Freeman is just riding it out for now. Hamm eventually gives up the hold.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Isaac Hamm will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Hamm closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Hamm shoots in for a takedown but Freeman shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Isaac Hamm. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Freeman cracks Hamm with a good jab.
Freeman misses with a wild combination.
Hamm will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Freeman showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hamm.
Hamm is trying hard to land a takedown here. Freeman sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Freeman scores with a three punch combo!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Freeman throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Freeman looks to land a combination. Hamm sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Freeman scores with the left hand. Hamm knows he should have avoided that one.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Freeman jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.


Hamm is rocked!
Freeman drops Hamm with a straight right hand, right on the button! Freeman follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:08 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Riley Freeman!
