Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Lee Roy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keith Ballard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ballard fails to land the takedown.

Lee Roy is refusing to be controlled, as Ballard sits in half guard.
Ballard thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lee Roy's head.
Lee Roy pushes Ballard off looking to stand but Ballard dives back in and keeps control.
Lee Roy is staying active underneath Ballard, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ballard looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Lee Roy with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Lee Roy tries to kick Ballard off but Ballard keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Ballard really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lee Roy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Ballard shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Lee Roy is trying to defend but Ballard finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Let's hope that Ballard has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ballard wants to advance to full mount but Lee Roy doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Keith Ballard showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Ballard closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ballard lands in his opponent's guard.
Ballard must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
