PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kimbo Slice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Teenage Mutant Turtle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Kimbo Slice!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Teenage Mutant Turtle!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, William Gold and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turtle looks to throw a body kick
and Slice counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.


It looks like Teenage Mutant Turtle has been cut.

Turtle throws a leg kick that is checked
and Turtle takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Turtle drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Slice working for a triangle but Turtle defends it easily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Turtle wants to control from the top but Slice keeps moving.

Slice looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Slice is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Turtle avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Turtle comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Slice is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Slice is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.

Turtle closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Slice quickly recovers to half guard.

Slice is refusing to be controlled, as Turtle sits in half guard.
Turtle working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Well, if Turtle is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Let's hope that Turtle has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Turtle performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Slice tries to roll over but Turtle keeps him under control.
Turtle is looking to take a break and control but Slice is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Teenage Mutant Turtle has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Turtle looks to score with a jab to the body but Slice is just out of range.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A combination from Turtle does no damage.

Turtle closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Slice to the mat! Slice manages to get full guard.
Turtle stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Slice swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Slice has momentary wrist control but Turtle slips an elbow through the middle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Turtle is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Turtle can do anything to dispel that myth.

Slice is staying active underneath Turtle, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Slice had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Turtle defends it easily.

Turtle lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Slice circles away quickly and effectively.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Turtle lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Turtle really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Slice. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Turtle seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kimbo Slice.
Well Slice has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
