Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Stone Gossard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tiago Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gossard comes into the arena with A Daley BEAT DOWN - NWA blaring out of the sound system. Mendez has chosen Trap Door as his entrance music. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gossard throws a sloppy body shot
and Gossard takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Gossard tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Mendez counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Mendez shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gossard's guard.
Mendez stays in close to Gossard's body and controls the position.
Mendez slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Mendez working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Mendez decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Mendez shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Gossard napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Mendez is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gossard knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mendez is staying tight to Gossard's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Gossard is trying to buck Mendez off.

Mendez stands up.

Mendez has closed the distance and engaged Gossard in a clinch.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Gossard just misses with a elbow thrown towards Mendez's brow.

Mendez has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Gossard clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Mendez controlling the position well here. Gossard rolled but Mendez kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Gossard is covering up but some of the strikes from Mendez are getting through and doing damage.

Mendez is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Gossard has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Mendez has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Gossard taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Mendez doesn't care though - he's delighted!
