Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shake Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Vaughn Taylor!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Steve Erwin and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Taylor gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Taylor has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Jones clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Taylor working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.

Taylor looking for the RNC.

Jones defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jones tries to escape but Taylor has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Taylor is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Jones defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Taylor looks gassed!
Taylor doesn't have the hooks in and Jones manages to turn into his guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones wants to control from the top but Taylor keeps moving.

Taylor looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Jones drops back looking for a leg! Taylor is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Taylor manages to kick Jones off! Jones jumps back into Taylor's guard.

Taylor is looking for a triangle but Jones pushes his legs off easily.
Taylor controls Jones momentarily but Jones frees himself.

Taylor has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jones can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jones is looking to stand up but Taylor won't let him.

Taylor has his foot on Jones's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jones works his way back into a safe position though.
Taylor bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jones's guard.
Taylor advances to half guard.
Taylor is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Jones!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Taylor wants to finish this one by submission but Jones is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Taylor.

Taylor is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Jones can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Jones is desperately trying to improve his position but Taylor has a good base and remains in mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jones tries to lock up and control but Taylor gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Jones is working to get back to half guard.
Taylor trying to control but Jones is having none of it.

Taylor is working for a guillotine from mount but Jones frees his head quite easily.

Taylor has hold of Jones's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Jones manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones stops Taylor from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Taylor looking to secure an arm triangle but Jones defends it well.

Taylor is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Jones is forced to tap! Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Vaughn Taylor!
