Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kristian Damsted Andersen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raja Dat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Raja Dat enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kristian Damsted Andersen!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Raja Dat!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Winston Howard and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Damsted Andersen dives in and grabs Dat's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dat pushes down on Damsted Andersen's head and hops out.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Damsted Andersen throws a poor cross that misses
and Dat counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Kristian Damsted Andersen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No luck for Damsted Andersen with that takedown attempt.
Dat stuns Damsted Andersen with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Damsted Andersen throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Dat was covering up waiting for the punch and Damsted Andersen finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Dat looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Damsted Andersen wants to stand but Dat has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dat can do anything to dispel that myth.

Damsted Andersen is pushing down on Dat's leg trying to pass to half guard. Dat is fighting to maintain full guard but Damsted Andersen has managed to sneak the leg through.
Damsted Andersen is trying to control the action in half guard but Dat is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Damsted Andersen thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Damsted Andersen wants to control but Dat is keeping him busy.

Kristian Damsted Andersen has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Dat shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Damsted Andersen eats them both and turns towards Dat to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.


It looks like Kristian Damsted Andersen has been cut.
Damsted Andersen tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dat sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Damsted Andersen somewhat.

Dat throws a right hand that Damsted Andersen ducks under and follows up with a left that Damsted Andersen also avoids with ease.

A combination from Dat does no damage.
Damsted Andersen looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Dat moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Dat scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Some wild striking there from Dat.
Dat fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Damsted Andersen is defended easily by Dat.
Dat throws a leg kick but Damsted Andersen checks it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Raja Dat dominated that round.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Dat pivots, looking for a leg kick but Damsted Andersen is out of range and Dat settles back down.
Damsted Andersen takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Dat misses with a jab, cross combination.
Damsted Andersen looks to clinch
and Dat counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

letting Dat counter with a right hand.

and Dat counters with a one-two to the body.
Damsted Andersen fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Dat avoids it really well and circles away.

Dat really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Damsted Andersen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Damsted Andersen is really struggling to control Dat but he's trying to hold on to the position.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Damsted Andersen takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Damsted Andersen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dat's waist but Dat gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Damsted Andersen off to one side.

Damsted Andersen shoots in looking for a takedown. Dat tries to sprawl out of it but Damsted Andersen keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dat manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

and Dat cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Dat sizes up Damsted Andersen with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Raja Dat showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Dat tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Damsted Andersen is able to avoid easily.
A nice combination there by Dat.

Dat shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Dat showed some decent athleticism there.

Dat throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Damsted Andersen because Dat loaded up on that one.

Dat misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Dat throws a strike there. Damsted Andersen manages to avoid it well and slips a leg under to get to half guard.

Dat thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Damsted Andersen's head.

Dat seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Damsted Andersen does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Damsted Andersen manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Dat manages to get himself to full guard.

Damsted Andersen postures up in Dat's guard and throws a big left but Dat blocks it.
Damsted Andersen works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Dat avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Damsted Andersen.

Damsted Andersen is keen to just control but Dat is a slippery customer.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Damsted Andersen unloads with some shots from mount but Dat bucks and avoids them well.
Damsted Andersen can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Dat is looking to escape.

Damsted Andersen is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Dat to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Dat shrugs it off.
Dat is in all sorts of trouble here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kristian Damsted Andersen.
I think Dat has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
