Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rex Khalfa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Merick Melrose (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Melrose has chosen Winter as his entrance music. Rex Khalfa has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rex Khalfa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Merick Melrose!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, William Peck and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khalfa instigates a clinch.
Khalfa blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Melrose scores with a shoulder strike.
Khalfa has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Melrose avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Khalfa jumps guard but Melrose stands there with Khalfa around his waist. Khalfa gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Khalfa jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Melrose walks away with a smile on his face. Khalfa gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rex Khalfa. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Melrose looks to land a left hand but Khalfa moved out of range nicely.

and Melrose counters by moving into the clinch.

Melrose throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Khalfa manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Khalfa is wriggling around but Melrose manages to pass to half guard.

Khalfa might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Melrose tries to pass to full mount but Khalfa defends it.
Khalfa has hold of Melrose's hands but Melrose slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Melrose thows a huge punch but Khalfa dodges it nicely.
Melrose looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Melrose working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Khalfa is breathing heavily.
Still in half guard, Melrose seems content to control.
Melrose thows a huge punch but Khalfa dodges it nicely.

Melrose wants to control but Khalfa is keeping him busy.
Khalfa manages to get to full guard.
Melrose content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Khalfa has locked up a guillotine! Khalfa's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Melrose is holding on here and Khalfa must be using up a lot of energy. Melrose has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Khalfa gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
