Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Neil Rollins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenji Okabe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rollins comes into the arena with Everyday Normal Guy blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Neil Rollins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kenji Okabe!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Wesley Smith and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Okabe throws a poor cross that misses
letting Rollins counter with a right hand.
Rollins swings widly with a right hand
and Okabe counters with a right hand to the body.
Okabe misses with a wild body shot.

Okabe closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rollins to the mat! Rollins manages to get full guard.
Okabe pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rollins is keeping the position for now.
Rollins not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Okabe missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Okabe is pushing down on Rollins's leg trying to pass to half guard. Rollins is fighting to maintain full guard but Okabe has managed to sneak the leg through.
Okabe is pressing down on Rollins's thigh, looking to free his foot. Rollins is holding on for now.

Rollins is not content to let Okabe control the position.
Okabe sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Rollins defending well though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rollins tries to roll over but Okabe keeps him under control.
Okabe is pressing down on Rollins's thigh, looking to free his foot. Rollins is holding on for now.
Okabe trying to control from half guard but Rollins is working away.
Okabe moves into full mount! Rollins won't be happy about that!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Okabe working for a submission but Rollins is keeping him at bay.
Okabe trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Okabe misses with a head shot.

Okabe is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Rollins has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Rollins!

Okabe looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Okabe wants to sweep but no luck.
Okabe has Rollins pulled in close to control his posture.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Okabe looking for a sweep. Not yet Okabe, not yet.

Okabe not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Okabe lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Rollins!

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Rollins on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Rollins takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Okabe gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Rollins counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Okabe jabs Rollins to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Okabe gets a takedown into half guard.
Rollins looks like he's trying to stand up.

Rollins blocking the ground and pound attempt from Okabe.
Okabe throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Okabe is stalling here. Rollins is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Okabe seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Rollins has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Rollins is looking to take a break and control but Okabe is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Okabe is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Rollins's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Okabe gets full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rollins not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Okabe controlling the position.
Okabe is looking to sweep but instead, Rollins has passed into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Okabe is positioning himself well to prevent Rollins advancing to mount.
Rollins prevents Okabe from improving his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rollins tries to pass to full mount but Okabe defends it.
Okabe is refusing to be controlled, as Rollins sits in half guard.
Rollins is thwarting Okabe's attempts to control the position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Okabe swings for the body but Rollins moves out of range.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Okabe throws a lazy uppercut
and Rollins connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Kenji Okabe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Donk. Rollins catches Okabe right on the button with a cross.

Okabe bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Okabe thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Kenji Okabe has got the better of the ground game so far.
Okabe controls the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kenji Okabe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


A lazy left from Okabe finds it's target.
Okabe is trying hard to land a takedown here. Rollins sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Rollins lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Okabe at a distance.
Rollins connects with a crisp jab.
Okabe misses with a body punch
and Rollins counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Okabe cracks Rollins with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Okabe throws an off balance right hand
and Rollins counters with an inside leg kick.
Rollins misses with a straight left.
Okabe takes one to the chin there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rollins lands a nice looking body shot.
Neil Rollins is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Okabe takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Rollins fails with an attempt to clinch.
Okabe fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Rollins looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Okabe tries for a takedown but Rollins circles away easily
and Rollins counters with a nice uppercut.
Okabe swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Rollins counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Rollins stuffs the takedown attempt from Okabe. Okabe gets slowly back to his feet.
Neil Rollins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kenji Okabe.
Okabe uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Rollins.

and Rollins counters with a stiff right hand.
Okabe misses with a body shot
enabling Rollins to counter with a crisp jab.
Okabe throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Rollins counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Okabe bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Rollins's head.
Okabe fails with the takedown
and Rollins counters with a nice uppercut.
Okabe misses with a right hand
and Rollins counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Okabe thinking.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Okabe misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Rollins counters with a stiff right hand.
Okabe throws a sloppy body shot
and Rollins counters with a nice uppercut.
Okabe with a poor takedown
and Rollins counters with a leg kick.
Kenji Okabe is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Rollins lands a jab to the nose.
Okabe doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Rollins cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Neil Rollins has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rollins throws a nice looking combination but Okabe bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Rollins is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Okabe shoots and misses
and Rollins counters with a straight right hand.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A good leg kick by Rollins.
Rollins misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Okabe walks into a left hand.
Okabe misses with a hook
and Rollins counters with a straight right hand.
Rollins lands with an uppercut that bounces Okabe off the cage and back into rage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Okabe shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Okabe content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

And that's the end of the fight!
Neil Rollins showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Okabe has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
