PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pipe Layer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jameson Web (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jameson Web told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pipe Layer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Jameson Web!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Layer tries for a takedown but Web circles away easily
and Web cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Layer has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Web finds it's way round the side to connect with Layer's head.
Web is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Web connects with a body shot.
Layer gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Web connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Web throws a leg kick but Layer moved away.
Layer could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Layer looks to score with a jab to the body but Web is just out of range.
Layer shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Layer shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Web counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pipe Layer. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Layer fails with a takedown attempt.
A combination from Web does no damage.
Nice cross by Web.
Web fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Web swings widly with a right hand
and Layer counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Layer looks to score with a jab to the body but Web is just out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Web scores with a sloppy right hand. Layer should have avoided that one.
Layer tries to move into range but Web moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Layer gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Web.
Jameson Web is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Layer blocks a low kick nicely.
Layer takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Layer throws a series of punches but Web moves out of range.
Web scores with a body shot.
Web keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Web lands the left hand.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Layer.
Layer is breathing heavily.
Web is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Web tests Layer's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Web comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
A punch lands to the side of Layer 's head but he takes it in his stride.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Layer misses with a takedown attempt
and Web counters with a nice uppercut.
Layer ducks right into an uppercut from Web.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Web listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Layer is rocked!
Web scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Oh Layer is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Web throws an uppercut from hell that sends Layer clean off his feet! He's out cold! Web stands back and admires his work as he thinks about that KO of the night award that is surely being wrapped up for him back stage.
