The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mays clinches up against the cage.

Mays breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jones keeps the fight on the outside.
Jones throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mays stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Jones throws a front kick that sends Mays stumbling back into the cage.
Jones fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Jones lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Jones.


It looks like Billy Mays has been cut.
Mays avoids a punch combination nicely.
Leviathan Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Horrible takedown by Mays or perhaps it was just good defense by Jones which made him look bad.

Mays does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Jones swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Mays wants to clinch
and Jones counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Jones. Mays shrugs it off though.
Mays is breathing heavily.

Jones closes the distance and clinches.

Jones breaks from the clinch.

Jones tests Mays's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Jones misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Jones looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Mays fails with an attempt to clinch.

Mays tries to keep at a distance but Jones has taken the fight into the clinch.
Mays tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jones just stands there and leans against the cage.

Mays has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Mays not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Mays has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Mays seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jones for as long as he can get away with.

Mays bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Leviathan Jones seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
