And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Columbo Gatti and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Payne looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Payne circles away from the clinch attempt
and Payne counters with a stiff right hand.
Payne throws a head kick that misses.
Jay Navarro shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Payne sprawls well. Payne wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jay Navarro gets slowly back to his feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Payne.
Payne throws a head kick that Jay Navarro semi-blocks.


It looks like Kirby Jay Navarro has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jay Navarro shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Payne but Payne pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Payne counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Payne.

Jay Navarro could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Corey Payne wasn't active enough on the ground.
Jay Navarro misses with a body punch
and Payne counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Payne looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jay Navarro is fending him off so far but Payne persists. Nope, Jay Navarro circles away and we're back to standing.
Payne fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jay Navarro avoids it really well and circles away.
Kirby Jay Navarro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Corey Payne.
Payne shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Jay Navarro counters with a series of strikes. Payne will be more careful next time no doubt.
Payne is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

and Payne counters with a shoot takedown. Jay Navarro fights it but they end up in guard.
Jay Navarro is breathing heavily.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jay Navarro controls Payne momentarily but Payne frees himself.
Payne slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Payne tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Payne wants to control for a moment but Jay Navarro uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Payne is trying to control the action in half guard but Jay Navarro is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Jay Navarro knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Payne on the ground.

Payne maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Jay Navarro could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Payne has cracked it and Jay Navarro is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Payne!
