Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jay Simpson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ilong Ranger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Jay Simpson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Ilong Ranger!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Richard Clark and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ranger tries a head kick but it misses.

Simpson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Ranger to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Simpson has his feet on Ranger's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Ranger misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ranger jabs at Simpson's body.
Simpson misses with an uppercut
and Ranger counters with a thumping low kick.
Simpson lands with a right hand.
Simpson rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Ranger makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Ranger decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Simpson wants to control but Ranger is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Ranger trying to control the action but Simpson is working from the bottom.
Simpson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Simpson is on top in guard.
Ranger can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Simpson controls the pace.
Simpson is working Ranger over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Ranger really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Simpson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ranger looking for a sweep. Not yet Ranger, not yet.
Simpson controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Ranger wants to sweep but no luck.
Simpson postures up in Ranger's guard and throws a big left but Ranger blocks it.

We're going to have a standup here because Jay Simpson wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Ranger closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ranger lands in his opponent's guard.
Simpson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Well, if Simpson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Simpson is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

and Ranger counters with a crisp one two that drops Simpson! Ranger thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Simpson to his feet! Simpson is in big trouble!


Simpson is rocked!

Simpson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Ranger manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Simpson prevents Ranger from getting back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Simpson's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Ranger can't keep his opponent in guard - Simpson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ilong Ranger dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Simpson misses with a leg kick
and Ranger makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Ilong Ranger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ranger lands a nice looking body kick.

Simpson tries to sprawl but Ranger drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Simpson manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Ranger thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Simpson pushes Ranger off and gets back to his feet.

Ranger changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Simpson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Simpson is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Ranger's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Simpson has one foot on Ranger's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

and Ranger counters with a nice kick to the body.

Ranger closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Simpson did well to prevent Ranger getting side control.

Ranger seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Ranger is trying to control the action in half guard but Simpson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Ranger wants to free his trapped foot but Simpson is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Simpson kicks Ranger off and gets back to his feet.

Ranger shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Ilong Ranger has got the better of the ground game so far.
Simpson trying to control from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ilong Ranger showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

and Ranger counters with a big head kick but Simpson shrugs it off.

Ranger shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Simpson's guard.
Simpson is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Ranger wants to control from the top but Simpson keeps moving.

Ranger takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

and Simpson counters with a takedown into side control.
Simpson wants to control but Ranger is keeping him busy.

You can see the frustration on Ranger's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Simpson is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Ranger can't fight it off and eventually Simpson manages to take the fight to the floor. Ranger looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Simpson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Simpson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Ranger dodges the ground and pound from Simpson.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Simpson trying to control the action but Ranger is working from the bottom.
Simpson creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Ranger sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Simpson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Simpson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ranger is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Ranger tries to buck Simpson off but Simpson is having none of it.

Simpson looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Ilong Ranger is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Ranger managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Simpson.

Jay Simpson showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Ranger has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
