PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rocky Balboa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Kresina (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jack Kresina was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rocky Balboa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Kresina!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Balboa moves into the clinch.
Balboa throws a knee to the head but misses.

Kresina ties up his opponent against the ropes and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kresina no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Balboa wants to stand but Kresina is controlling his posture from full guard.
Kresina looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kresina seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Balboa has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kresina is proving hard to escape from.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Kresina is working for a guillotine from mount but Balboa frees his head quite easily.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Kresina is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Balboa is surviving well by controlling Kresina's body position as best he can.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Balboa tries to buck Kresina off but he can't manage it.
Balboa is controlling an arm, preventing Kresina from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Balboa is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Balboa closes the distance but Kresina moves to the side
and Kresina counters with a nice uppercut.

Balboa gets tackled into the ropes by Kresina. Kresina maintains the clinch.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Kresina obliges.
Balboa is trying to maintain a safe position but Kresina gets an underhook and turns Balboa into the ropes.
Balboa stops a takedown attempt from Kresina.
Kresina tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Kresina decides to pull guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kresina is on top in guard.
Balboa is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kresina is controlling him.

Kresina seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Balboa is looking to stand up but Kresina isn't so interested in that idea.
Kresina sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Balboa's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kresina wants to control but Balboa is keeping him busy.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jack Kresina wasn't active enough on the ground.

Balboa stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Balboa wants it to stay on the feet.

Kresina gets a clinch.
Kresina blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Kresina changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Balboa fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Balboa wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Kresina manages to pass to side control.

Kresina is pressing down on Balboa's thigh, looking to free his foot. Balboa is holding on for now.
Balboa pushes Kresina off looking to stand but Kresina dives back in and keeps control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Kresina showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Kresina tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Balboa smiles and moves away.

Rocky Balboa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Kresina.
Kresina shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Balboa defends it nicely.
Kresina doesn't manage to clinch there - Balboa circles away.

Kresina changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Balboa looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Balboa is trying to control Kresina's posture but Kresina avoids it.

The referee asks Kresina politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Kresina prefers to stall for the moment though.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Let's hope that Kresina has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Kresina shoots in looking for a takedown but Balboa manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kresina's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
