Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nick Vass Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Harvey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jon Harvey will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nick Vass Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Harvey!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, John Roberts and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harvey shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Vass Jr defends it nicely.
Harvey moves to clinch but Vass Jr breaks away
and Harvey takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.


It looks like Jon Harvey has been cut.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Harvey.
Vass Jr has a takedown stuffed.
Vass Jr could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Vass Jr tries for a takedown but Harvey circles away easily

and Harvey counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Harvey wants to control from the top but Vass Jr keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Harvey is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Vass Jr utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vass Jr is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jon Harvey.

Vass Jr closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Vass Jr keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Harvey's efforts to push away.

Vass Jr breaks from the clinch.
Harvey throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Vass Jr's waist but Vass Jr gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Harvey off to one side.
Nick Vass Jr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jon Harvey.

and Vass Jr counters by moving into the clinch.
Harvey on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Harvey tries to pull guard but Vass Jr won't allow it.
Harvey is pressed up against the cage. Vass Jr has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Harvey down to the mat. Harvey avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Harvey misses with a takedown attempt - Vass Jr sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Harvey stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Harvey wants it to stay on the feet.

Vass Jr displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Harvey.
Vass Jr fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Harvey avoids it really well and circles away.
Vass Jr shoots in for a double leg but Harvey sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

and Vass Jr decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Harvey's guard.

Vass Jr gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Vass Jr has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Harvey uses from the top position.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Vass Jr accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Vass Jr stands and steps away. Harvey gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Vass Jr.
Vass Jr fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Vass Jr gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Harvey to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Vass Jr is trying to hold Harvey in close to prevent damage but Harvey has managed to pass into half guard.

Harvey seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Vass Jr does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Vass Jr shoots in looking for a takedown. Harvey tries to sprawl out of it but Vass Jr keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Harvey manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Vass Jr feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Harvey has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Vass Jr is working away from the top position though.

Harvey tries to keep at a distance but Vass Jr has taken the fight into the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Harvey's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Harvey has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Vass Jr avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Harvey jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Vass Jr walks away with a smile on his face. Harvey gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Harvey fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Vass Jr avoids it really well and circles away.

Nick Vass Jr overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Jon Harvey has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Nick Vass Jr is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
