Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dante Evangelisti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Marx (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mark Marx is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dante Evangelisti!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Marx!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marx throws a leg kick that is checked
and Marx takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Evangelisti throws a hook but Marx blocks it.
Marx has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Evangelisti finds it's way round the side to connect with Marx's head.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Evangelisti lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Marx has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Marx and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Evangelisti misses with a straight right.
Good leg kick by Evangelisti there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Evangelisti looks to land a combination but Marx avoids it well.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Evangelisti lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Evangelisti throws a poor cross that misses
letting Marx counter with a right hand.

Evangelisti throws a leg kick but Marx sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Evangelisti is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Evangelisti wants to land a leg kick but Marx is out of range.
Evangelisti throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Marx counters with a nice body kick.
Evangelisti throws a sloppy head kick
and Marx counters with a nice body kick.
Marx lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Marx sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Evangelisti moves out of range as Marx strikes.

letting Marx counter with a right hand.
Marx goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Evangelisti misses with a looping right.
Evangelisti throws a leg kick
and Marx connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Marx connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Evangelisti throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Evangelisti misses with a low kick.

Evangelisti connects with a leg kick. Marx looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Marx throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
enabling Evangelisti to counter with a crisp jab.
Evangelisti misses with an uppercut
and Marx counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Marx throws a front kick aimed at Evangelisti's knee but Evangelisti avoids it well.
Marx takes a swing at Evangelisti's ribcage but misses.
A swing and a miss from Evangelisti.
Marx uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Evangelisti.
Evangelisti throws a jab but it's blocked by Marx.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Evangelisti misses with a leg kick
and Marx counters with a slapping leg kick.
Evangelisti throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Evangelisti tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Marx looks to throw a body kick
and Evangelisti counters with a three punch combo that has Marx backing up. Marx nods at Evangelisti to acknowledge the strikes.
Evangelisti fails to land with a series of punches.
Marx moves out of range of the strikes.
Evangelisti tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A low kick from Evangelisti is predictable there
and Marx counters with a body kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dante Evangelisti dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Evangelisti thumps Marx with a low kick.
Marx throws a sloppy head kick
and Evangelisti counters with a low kick, right behind Marx 's knee.
Evangelisti scores with a push kick.
Marx bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Evangelisti swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Marx counters with a shoot takedown. Evangelisti fights it but they end up in guard.
Marx is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Marx advances position into side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Marx scoring with punches and elbows.
Evangelisti wants to control but Marx postures up.
Marx wants to control but Evangelisti is keeping him busy.
Marx controls the position from side control.
Evangelisti tries to escape but Marx is in control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Evangelisti wants to get back to his feet.
Evangelisti is trying to escape the position but Marx is controlling the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Evangelisti is looking for a sweep.
Evangelisti is working to avoid the ground and pound but Marx connects with a decent elbow.
Evangelisti is trying to control Marx's posture but Marx avoids it.
Evangelisti is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Marx's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Marx content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Evangelisti is staying active underneath Marx, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Marx takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Marx works his way into side control.
Marx working the ground and pound but Evangelisti is defending the strikes.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Marx is looking to take a break and control but Evangelisti is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Evangelisti regains half guard.
Marx with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Marx trying to control from half guard but Evangelisti is working away.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mark Marx was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Evangelisti leaves Marx with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Evangelisti throws a right and a left that Marx avoids nicely.
Evangelisti misses with a straight left.
A combination from Evangelisti does no damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Marx showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Marx lands a nice looking kick to the body. Evangelisti takes a step back to recover.

Evangelisti throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Marx counters with a slapping leg kick.

Marx closes the distance and clinches.
Marx looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Marx lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Evangelisti manages to break the clinch.

Marx shoots and misses
and Evangelisti counters with a stiff right hand.

Marx throws a low kick, looking for Evangelisti's leg but Evangelisti calmly moves out of range.

Evangelisti stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Marx.
Marx pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Marx wants to land a leg kick but Evangelisti is out of range.
Dante Evangelisti is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Evangelisti goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Dante Evangelisti is winning the standup battle so far.
Marx looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Evangelisti is fending him off so far but Marx persists. Nope, Evangelisti circles away and we're back to standing.

Marx bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Evangelisti is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Evangelisti is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Marx slows the pace down.

Marx wants to control but Evangelisti is keeping him busy.
Evangelisti tries to buck Marx off but Marx is having none of it.
Marx tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Marx happy to just control the position for now.
Evangelisti manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Marx is trying to stand.

I would just about give that final round to Mark Marx.
I think Marx has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
