PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Elliot Stabler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and William Smecker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stabler's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Grown Men Don't Cry. On his way into the cage it seems that Elliot Stabler has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Elliot Stabler seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, William Smecker!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stabler shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Stabler missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Smecker is not content to let Stabler control the position.
Smecker slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Smecker looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Stabler wants to control from the top but Smecker keeps moving.
Smecker looking to hit a scissor sweep but Stabler is one step ahead there.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Stabler is fighting to break Smecker's control of his arms but Smecker is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Smecker wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stabler keeps working.
Smecker slips into full mount, dodging the strikes by Stabler.

Stabler swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.

Smecker can't control as he wanted to and Stabler manages to get the fight back to his half guard.

Smecker is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Stabler is just riding it out for now. Smecker eventually gives up the hold.

Smecker thows a huge punch but Stabler dodges it nicely.

Smecker shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

so Stabler counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Stabler is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Stabler drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Smecker manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Stabler has Smecker in his guard.
Stabler is breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Stabler wants to stand up but Smecker is controlling him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but William Smecker will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Stabler gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Smecker counters with a head kick.
Smecker throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Stabler's waist but Stabler gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Smecker off to one side.

Smecker moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Smecker swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Stabler lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Stabler.


It looks like William Smecker has been cut.
Elliot Stabler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Smecker makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Stabler pushes Smecker away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Smecker gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Stabler avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Smecker.
Stabler tries to improve position but can't.
Stabler is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Smecker remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Smecker wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stabler keeps working.
