PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lucas Niemeyer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Satoshi Nakamura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lucas Niemeyer is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lucas Niemeyer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Satoshi Nakamura!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nakamura tries to clinch up
and Niemeyer counters with a nice uppercut.
Niemeyer looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Niemeyer shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Nakamura's guard.
Niemeyer won't allow Nakamura to get back to his feet.

Niemeyer drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Niemeyer jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nakamura really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Niemeyer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Lucas Niemeyer.

Niemeyer shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Niemeyer has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nakamura is trying to stand.

Niemeyer is working for a guillotine from mount but Nakamura frees his head quite easily.
Nakamura is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Niemeyer is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Nakamura to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Nakamura shrugs it off.
Niemeyer scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Nakamura really wants to buck Niemeyer off and get back to his feet.

You get the feeling that Nakamura really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Niemeyer is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Nakamura can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Niemeyer postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Nakamura looks a forlorn figure.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nakamura squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Niemeyer is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Nakamura is in real trouble.

Niemeyer closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Nakamura quickly recovers to half guard.

Niemeyer is looking for a kimura but Nakamura is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Niemeyer to get the leverage.
