PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Huey Freeman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seppo Taalasmaa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Freeman kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Scorpions - The Good Die Young. Taalasmaa has chosen Smurffit - Tunteisiin as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Taalasmaa.
Taalasmaa connects with a right hand. Freeman shakes it off.
Taalasmaa throws a body punch but Freeman moves out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from Taalasmaa. Freeman does a little dance to reset his feet.
Taalasmaa moves away from the strike by Freeman.
Taalasmaa looks to throw the jab but Freeman is out of range.
Freeman darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Freeman throws an off balance right hand
and Taalasmaa counters with a right hand to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Freeman tries to score a power double leg takedown but Taalasmaa sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Freeman somewhat.

and Freeman counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Freeman tries to land a front kick but Taalasmaa steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Taalasmaa gets caught flat footed, as Freeman shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Taalasmaa looking for a sweep. Not yet Taalasmaa, not yet.
Freeman wants to control from the top but Taalasmaa keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Freeman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Taalasmaa swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Taalasmaa looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Freeman is pushing down on Taalasmaa's leg trying to pass to half guard. Taalasmaa is fighting to maintain full guard but Freeman has managed to sneak the leg through.
Taalasmaa looks like he's trying to stand up.
Taalasmaa is not content to let Freeman control the position.

Freeman is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Taalasmaa has managed to free his arm - good work.
Taalasmaa tries to roll over but Freeman keeps him under control.

Freeman wants to pass the guard but Taalasmaa is defending well.

Taalasmaa is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Freeman is taking a breather. Taalasmaa says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Freeman is trying to control the action in half guard but Taalasmaa is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Taalasmaa moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Taalasmaa tries to land a sweep but no joy.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Freeman tries to free his leg and advance position but Taalasmaa is retaining full guard.

Taalasmaa has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Freeman can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Freeman wants to control from the top but Taalasmaa keeps moving.
Taalasmaa wants to sweep here but Freeman controlling him for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Some bone on bone action there as Taalasmaa checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Taalasmaa misses with a body shot.
Freeman throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Freeman looks to throw the jab but Taalasmaa is out of range.

Taalasmaa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Freeman swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Freeman is trying desperately to improve position.
Freeman is bucking up trying to escape but Taalasmaa cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Taalasmaa lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

It looks like Huey Freeman has been cut.
Freeman tries to lock up and control but Taalasmaa gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Freeman working to try and regain half guard.
Taalasmaa cracks Freeman with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Huey Freeman's cut is getting worse.

Freeman is looking to improve his position but Taalasmaa isn't that keen on the idea.
Taalasmaa fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Jeez, Huey Freeman's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Huey Freeman's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
