Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Wagner Zegers and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gutz scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gutz's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jigoro Gutz wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Makaaja throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Gutz tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Makaaja is in Gutz's guard.
Gutz seems keen to control Makaaja's posture.

Gutz pulls Makaaja in close to prevent any damage.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Gutz tries to roll over but Makaaja keeps him under control.

Makaaja is trying to control. Gutz wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Makaaja sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gutz's guard.
Makaaja trying to mount his opponent but Gutz defends it.
Gutz tries to get to full guard but Makaaja has control of the leg.
Gutz makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gutz.
Makaaja is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Gutz lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Makaaja!
Gutz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Makaaja is in a horrible position here. Gutz smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Makaaja tries to reverse the position but Gutz maintains control.
Gutz fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Gutz postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Makaaja looks a forlorn figure.
Makaaja manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Gutz working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Gutz stalling.
Gutz wants to pass to mount but Makaaja is defending the position.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

We're going to have a standup here because Jigoro Gutz wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Gutz gets the takedown into side control.

Gutz moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Gutz wants to lay and pray for a moment but Makaaja keeps working.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Gutz is staying tight to Makaaja's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Gutz takes a little break here. Makaaja wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Well Gutz has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
