Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hans Beuys (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Umberto Eco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hans Beuys!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Umberto Eco!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Daniel Cesar and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Eco.
Eco throws a sloppy head kick and Beuys moves out of range easily.

Beuys is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Eco's half guard.
Beuys tries to pass to full mount but Eco defends it.
Beuys wants to control but Eco is keeping him busy.
Eco has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Beuys is working away from the top position though.
Eco wants to improve his position but Beuys is controlling well.
Beuys keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Beuys wants to pass the guard but Eco is defending well.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Beuys works his way into side control.
Beuys is looking to take a break and control but Eco is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The referee asks Beuys politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Beuys prefers to stall for the moment though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Beuys trying to control the action but Eco is working from the bottom.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Eco seems a little lost for a moment, as Beuys dominates the positioning.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Hans Beuys wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Eco is looking to clinch but Beuys is avoiding it.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Eco tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Eco manages to work his way to half guard, despite Beuys's best efforts.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Beuys avoids the head kick by Eco.

and Beuys counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Beuys is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Beuys trying to control but Eco is working from the bottom.
Eco looking to hit a scissor sweep but Beuys is one step ahead there.

Eco is striking from the bottom but Beuys uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
Beuys passes the guard and advances to mount!
Eco is working to get back to half guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Beuys trying to control but Eco is having none of it.
Eco sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Eco is looking to improve his position.
Beuys trying to control the action but Eco is working from the bottom.

Eco is looking to get back to full guard here but Beuys has managed to pass to side control instead.
Eco seems a little lost for a moment, as Beuys dominates the positioning.
Eco is not content to let Beuys control the position.

Beuys thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Beuys trying to control the action but Eco is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hans Beuys dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Beuys changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Eco tries to avoid it but Beuys manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Eco to the ground. Eco escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Eco wants to clinch.
Eco throws a head kick but Beuys moves out of range.
Eco tries a head kick but it misses.
The fight stays on the outside here - Eco looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Eco darts in trying to clinch
and Beuys counters with a left to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Eco misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

and Beuys counters with a single leg into guard. Eco didn't expect that.
Beuys throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Eco works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Hans Beuys overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Beuys looking to sit in guard and control but Eco gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Beuys manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Eco manages to get himself to full guard.
Beuys trying to control the position from guard on top but Eco is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Beuys tries to free his leg and advance position but Eco is retaining full guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Eco is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Beuys is controlling him.
Beuys controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Eco is trying to keep Beuys in close.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Eco throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Eco wants to clinch

so Beuys counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Beuys drops back, looking for a kneebar! Eco looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Eco looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Eco!
Beuys regains half guard there - taking advantage of Eco's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Beuys looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Eco perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Hans Beuys is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Eco looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Beuys wants to control but Eco is keeping busy and won't allow it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Hans Beuys showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Beuys has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
