PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ringo Spar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Boxer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Spar might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to John Lennon & Wings: Dear Boy. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ringo Spar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe Boxer!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spar gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Boxer.
Spar dives in and grabs Boxer's left leg, looking for a takedown. Boxer pushes down on Spar's head and hops out.
Boxer feints a jab promting Spar to slip. Boxer then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Spar slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
A big left from Boxer misses.
Spar avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Boxer throws a leg kick which misses Spar's front leg but catches the back leg as Spar tries to avoid it.
Spar tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Boxer was well out of range. Poor timing from Spar.

Boxer gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Boxer has a couple of punches blocked by Spar.

Spar breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Boxer counters with a low kick, right behind Spar 's knee.
Boxer buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Boxer is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Spar had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Boxer uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Spar has time to react.

and Spar counters with a takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Spar misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Boxer is trying to control Spar's posture but Spar avoids it.
Boxer is looking for a sweep.

Spar stands up.
Spar misses with an uppercut
and Boxer counters with a slapping leg kick.
Spar dives in and grabs Boxer's left leg, looking for a takedown. Boxer pushes down on Spar's head and hops out.

Spar shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Boxer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Spar. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ringo Spar overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Spar swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Boxer is now in Spar's guard. A big mistake from Spar there, giving up the dominant position!

Boxer will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Spar stands and steps away. Boxer gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Spar is looking to wear down Boxer with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Boxer keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Spar shoots in for a double leg but Boxer sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Boxer jabs Spar right on the nose. Spar blinks but takes it well.
Boxer throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Spar takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Boxer fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Boxer bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Joe Boxer comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Boxer has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
