PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Leo Green (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bertong Badtrip (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Leo Green !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bertong Badtrip!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Edson Gomes and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Green swings for the body but Badtrip moves out of range.
Badtrip shoots and misses

and Green counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Badtrip is trying to stand.
Green trying to pass the guard but Badtrip defending well.
Badtrip has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Green is working away from the top position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Green content to control rather than advance.
Green seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Badtrip for as long as he can get away with.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Leo Green has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Green closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Green lands in his opponent's guard.
Green slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Green seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Leo Green just wasn't active enough.
Green dips to his left and cracks Badtrip with an uppercut!

and Green moves into the clinch.
Badtrip takes an elbow to the forehead.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Green drags the fight down to the ground.

Green looking for a guillotine here but Badtrip defends easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Badtrip stands and throws Green 's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Badtrip tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Badtrip has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Badtrip is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Badtrip wants to lay and pray for a moment but Green keeps working.

Green tries to lock up and control but Badtrip gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Green is looking to get to half guard.
Green regains half guard.

Badtrip thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Green 's head.
Badtrip wants to pass the guard but Green is defending well.
Green makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Green .

Badtrip is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Green is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Green has escaped and now he's on top!
Badtrip is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Leo Green dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Green is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Badtrip is trying to control the position but Green postures up.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Bertong Badtrip was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Green shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Badtrip manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Badtrip is breathing heavily.
Green keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Green uses his free foot to push down on Badtrip's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Badtrip.
Green tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Badtrip tries to lock up and control but Green gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Green has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Leo Green .

Green is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Green wants to pass the guard but Badtrip is keeping the position.
Green pushes down on Badtrip's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Leo Green overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Green seems to be working for a kimura but Badtrip defends the submission attempt.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Green 's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

We're going to have a standup here because Leo Green wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Badtrip doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Green counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Badtrip!
Badtrip tries to buck Green off but he can't manage it.
Green avoids the attempt from Badtrip to control.
Green lands a heavy elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Green is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Badtrip's half guard.
Green wants to take a breather but Badtrip is having none of it.
Badtrip is trying to control but can't.
Badtrip is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Green looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Green connects with a nice short shot to Badtrip's temple.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Green throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Green pulls guard successfully.
Green lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Badtrip!

Badtrip is desperately trying to improve his position but Green has a good base and remains in mount.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Leo Green just wasn't active enough.
Green fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Badtrip avoids it really well and circles away.

Green closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Badtrip tries to get to full guard but Green has control of the leg.
Green perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Badtrip wants to control but Green is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Green tries to pass the half guard into mount. Badtrip knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Green is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Green instigates a clinch.
Badtrip prevents a takedown attempt there.

Green pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Badtrip tries for a takedown but Green circles away easily
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

And that's the end of the fight!
Leo Green showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Green has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
