Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bob Sepi!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Bourne!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Eliza Hachem and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sepi gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Bourne counters with a straight right hand.
Sepi fails to land the takedown.
Bourne connects with a body shot that sends Sepi's belly button to the back.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sepi looks for a takedown but Bourne sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bob Sepi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bourne jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.


It looks like Bob Sepi has been cut.

Bourne lands with a straight right. Sepi didn't see that one coming.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Bourne counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Bourne throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

and Sepi counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bourne won't be happy with that.

Sepi tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sepi has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

John Bourne dominated that round.

That's time! Sepi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Bourne's corner calls for a 1-2. Bourne obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Bourne throws a series of punches but Sepi moves out of range.
Sepi gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Bourne.
Nice sprawl there from Bourne as Sepi shoots in.

and Bourne counters with a straight right hand.

and Sepi counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Sepi fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Bourne stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bourne wants it to stay on the feet.

Sepi uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Bourne.

Sepi bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Bourne tries to improve position but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sepi shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bourne but Bourne pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Bourne misses with a lunging right hand
and Sepi counters with a straight right hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bourne misses with a shot to the body

and Sepi counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Sepi works over Bourne with some ground and pound from guard.
Sepi throwing strikes but missing.
Bourne is looking to stand up but Sepi isn't so interested in that idea.

Sepi drops back looking for a leg! Bourne is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bourne manages to kick Sepi off! Sepi jumps back into Bourne's guard.
Sepi in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Sepi won't allow Bourne to get back to his feet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bourne can do anything to dispel that myth.
Bourne keeping moving, preventing Sepi from controlling successfully.
Bourne really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sepi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sepi postures up in Bourne's guard and throws a big left but Bourne blocks it.
Sepi wants to control from the top but Bourne keeps moving.
Bourne utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Sepi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Sepi stays in close to Bourne's body and controls the position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Bob Sepi wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Bourne cracks Sepi with an open hand slap.

Sepi has his takedown stuffed
and Bourne counters with a series of strikes. Sepi will be more careful next time no doubt.
Bourne throws a poor cross that misses

and Sepi counters with a takedown into side control.

Sepi throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Sloppy strikes there by Sepi.
Sepi in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Sepi thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sepi trying to control the action but Bourne is working from the bottom.
Bourne is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Sepi creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Bourne sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Bourne lands a lovely overhand right.
Bourne fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sepi manages to avoid it.
Bourne misses with a double jab
and Sepi counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Bourne swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Sepi misses the body punch
and Bourne connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Bourne might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Sepi gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
letting Bourne counter with a right hand.

Good standup being displayed there by Bourne as he connects with a hook.
Bourne defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sepi.
Sepi misses with a wild body shot.

Oooooh!!! Bourne has knocked Sepi down with a huge combo! Bourne steps away and waves a wobbly Sepi back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Sepi glances at the clock... BAM! Bourne nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Sepi crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Sepi is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:24 of round 4, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). John Bourne!
