PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sanius Viver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barkadio Corleone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sanius Viver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Barkadio Corleone!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Eliza Hachem and Summer Carpenter.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Corleone sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Viver closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Corleone quickly recovers to half guard.
Viver is nestled in close to Corleone, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Viver moves nicely into side control.
Viver in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Viver stands up and beckons Corleone to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Viver throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Corleone showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Viver.

and Corleone counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Viver is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Corleone's half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Viver lands a nice short elbow.

Corleone is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Viver pulls his head out easily.

Corleone has hold of Viver's hands but Viver slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Corleone wants to control but Viver is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Viver connects with a nice short shot to Corleone's temple.
Viver knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Corleone on the ground.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Corleone tries to bench press Viver off him but Viver keeps the position.

Viver decides to stand back up.
Corleone stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Corleone wants it to stay on the feet.

Viver closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Corleone quickly recovers to half guard.

Corleone has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Viver. Oh but Corleone has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Viver goes limp - he's gone! Corleone jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
