PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sim Heer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seamus OShaughnessy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). OShaughnessy has chosen Black Friday Rule by Flogging Molly as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sim Heer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Seamus OShaughnessy!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, David Schapiro and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Heer keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Heer throws a poor cross that misses
enabling OShaughnessy to counter with a crisp jab.
Heer falls off balance throwing a combination
and OShaughnessy counters with a nice body shot.
OShaughnessy lands a head shot.
OShaughnessy misses with a wild body shot.
Heer scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. OShaughnessy doesn't seem bothered though.

Heer moves into the clinch.
OShaughnessy has a couple of punches blocked by Heer.
OShaughnessy blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
OShaughnessy tries a body shot but Heer blocks it.
Heer scores with a hook to the body.
OShaughnessy misses with a hook to the ribs.
OShaughnessy blocks an elbow strike from Heer.
Heer throws a punch but it's blocked by OShaughnessy.
Heer throws a blind hook that connects with the side of OShaughnessys head.
OShaughnessy lands with a short shot to the head.
A short uppercut from OShaughnessy.
OShaughnessy takes an elbow to the temple.
OShaughnessy is trying to break the clinch but Heer has him pressed against the cage.
OShaughnessy tries a body shot but Heer blocks it.
OShaughnessy misses with the head strike.
Heer keeps the fight in the clinch, despite OShaughnessy's efforts to push away.
Heer swings away with an uppercut that misses.
OShaughnessy is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
OShaughnessy tries a body shot but Heer blocks it.

Heer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Sim Heer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
OShaughnessy lands a slapping body shot.
Heer throws a leg kick but OShaughnessy checks it.
Heer throws a sloppy head kick
and OShaughnessy counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Sim Heer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Heer throws a poor cross that misses

and OShaughnessy counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Heer won't allow OShaughnessy to pass to mount.
OShaughnessy moves into full mount! Heer won't be happy about that!
Heer is controlling an arm, preventing OShaughnessy from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

OShaughnessy goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Heer turns into him and now he's in OShaughnessy's guard.

Heer got a little sloppy there for a moment and OShaughnessy has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Heer has managed to get both his arms back between OShaughnessy's legs - danger averted.

Heer decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Heer closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
OShaughnessy misses with a hook to the ribs.
OShaughnessy struggles to land a body shot inside as Heer controls his hands.
OShaughnessy throws a head punch that misses.
Heer landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
OShaughnessy misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Heer lands a nice elbow.
A right hook to the body lands for OShaughnessy.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
OShaughnessy lands a shot to the body.

OShaughnessy's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Heer connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Heer uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by OShaughnessy.
Heer lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Heer misses with a double jab

so OShaughnessy counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Heer managing to control the position.
OShaughnessy is looking to advance position but Heer has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
OShaughnessy tries to reverse the position but Heer maintains control.
You get the feeling that OShaughnessy really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Heer controlling the pace for now.

OShaughnessy sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Heer stops OShaughnessy from getting back to his feet.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and OShaughnessy counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
OShaughnessy is pressing down on Heer's thigh, looking to free his foot. Heer is holding on for now.
OShaughnessy trying to control the action but Heer is working from the bottom.
Heer controlling the position for now.
OShaughnessy throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

OShaughnessy is trying to work for a kimura but Heer is defending well.

OShaughnessy is working for a submission of some sort.

OShaughnessy is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Heer defends it well.
OShaughnessy is pressing down on Heer's thigh, looking to free his foot. Heer is holding on for now.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Heer is doing well to control the position and prevent OShaughnessy from advancing to side control.
OShaughnessy tries to pass to full mount but Heer defends it.

Heer is trying to maintain the position but OShaughnessy is very close to passing his half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
OShaughnessy wants to advance to full mount but Heer doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

and OShaughnessy counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
A head kick by Heer misses
and OShaughnessy counters with a right hand to the body.
OShaughnessy scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Heer doesn't seem bothered though.

and OShaughnessy makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Heer seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

OShaughnessy looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
OShaughnessy wants to stand up but Heer is controlling him.
Heer controls from within his opponent's guard.

Heer stands up and waves to OShaughnessy to follow him.

OShaughnessy shoots in and bounces Heer off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
OShaughnessy wants to pass the guard but Heer is keeping the position.
OShaughnessy looking to sit in guard and control but Heer gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Sim Heer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Heer wants to control from the top but OShaughnessy keeps moving.

OShaughnessy wants to sweep but no luck.
OShaughnessy is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

OShaughnessy has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Heer is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for OShaughnessy.
OShaughnessy is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Heer has just dragged him back down to the mat.
OShaughnessy regains half guard.
OShaughnessy wants to get back to his feet.

Well OShaughnessy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
