The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koscheck misses with a lunging right hand
and Matumba cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Koscheck throws a combination that misses
enabling Matumba to counter with a crisp jab.
Koscheck lands the left hand.
It looks like Umba Matumba has been cut.
Matumba looks to throw the jab but Koscheck is out of range.
Koscheck is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Matumba.

enabling Matumba to counter with a crisp jab.
Koscheck throws a poor cross that misses
and Matumba counters with a series of strikes. Koscheck will be more careful next time no doubt.
Matumba looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Matumba looks to land a right hand but Koscheck moved out of range.

Koscheck rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Matumba counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

and Matumba counters with a three punch combo that has Koscheck backing up. Koscheck nods at Matumba to acknowledge the strikes.
Koscheck moves into the clinch.
Koscheck lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Koscheck thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Matumba's head.
Matumba really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Koscheck. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Koscheck has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Koscheck looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Matumba with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Koscheck looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Koscheck seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Matumba has hold of Koscheck's hands but Koscheck slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Matumba seems to have recovered his senses.

Koscheck lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Koscheck takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Matumba avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
A nice combination there by Matumba.
Matumba looks up at the clock. Bad move! Koscheck lands a right hand from hell, dropping Matumba. Koscheck pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.
