The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Benga misses with a body punch
and Lee counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Kane Benga seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Lee cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

It looks like James Lee has been cut.
Benga throws a right hand that Lee ducks under and follows up with a left that Lee also avoids with ease.
Benga thows a body shot but no joy.
Benga throws the left hand but Lee avoids the punch easily.
Benga swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Benga lands a left and a right that send Lee crashing to the mat, dazed. Benga thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Benga throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lee's waist but Lee gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Benga off to one side.
Benga scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Benga fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Lee on the side of the head.

Benga shoots in and bounces Lee off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Benga throws and elbow that misses. Lee uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Benga's guard. Nice move by Lee!
Benga wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Kane Benga has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Benga digs a good body shot into Lee's ribs.
Benga misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Benga doesn't manage to clinch there - Lee circles away.

Benga scores with a hook to the body. Lee takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Benga lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Lee gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Benga to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Benga cracks Lee with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Benga has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
