PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Augusto Pinochet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Duardo Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alves has chosen Personality Crisis as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Augusto Pinochet!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Duardo Alves!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Mauricio Rocha and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pinochet walks into a jab.
Augusto Pinochet seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

so Alves counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Pinochet keeping moving, preventing Alves from controlling successfully.
Alves sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Pinochet's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Pinochet defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Alves.
Pinochet stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Pinochet wants it to stay on the feet.
Alves fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Pinochet on the side of the head.

Pinochet got a little sloppy there for a moment and Alves has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pinochet has managed to get both his arms back between Alves's legs - danger averted.

Alves fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Pinochet sprawls well initially but Alves persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Alves is taking a breather. Pinochet says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Alves winds up and cracks Pinochet with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Pinochet will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Well Alves has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
