Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Miguel Jimenez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daigo Goto!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goto will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Goto takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Jimenez moves in looking to clinch but Goto pushes him off.
Goto looks for a takedown but Jimenez sprawls well.
Jimenez throws a body punch but Goto moves out of range.
Jimenez slips a straight right by Goto.
Goto blocks a head kick by Jimenez.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jimenez lands a jab to Goto's midsection.
Goto throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Jimenez scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Jimenez dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Goto. That did some damage!
Some wild striking there from Goto.
Jimenez throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Goto missing with a left hand there. Jimenez was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Nice sprawl there from Goto as Jimenez shoots in.
Horrible takedown by Goto or perhaps it was just good defense by Jimenez which made him look bad.
Miguel Jimenez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daigo Goto.
Goto uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jimenez.
Goto tries to clinch there but Jimenez circles away.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Goto shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jimenez as he jumps to the side.
Goto shoots and misses
and Jimenez counters with an outside leg kick.
Jimenez staying out of range there.
Goto takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Goto misses with a takedown attempt
and Jimenez counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Jimenez is breathing heavily.
Jimenez is looking to slow Goto down with leg kicks.
Jimenez is looking to wear down Goto with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Jimenez throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Goto scores with a takedown into Jimenez's guard.
Goto thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Goto working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Goto.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jimenez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Jimenez keeping moving, preventing Goto from controlling successfully.
Goto wants to pass the guard but Jimenez is keeping the position.
Jimenez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Goto on the ground.
Jimenez wants to sweep but no luck.
Goto trying to control the position from guard on top but Jimenez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Goto slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Goto working the body and head with strikes.
Goto moves into full mount!
Goto swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
