Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Scott Hogan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Stuart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matt Stuart will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Scott Hogan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Matt Stuart!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Bruno Hogan and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hogan fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Stuart to the ground. Hogan is now in Stuart's guard.
Hogan trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Hogan showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Hogan pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Stuart is keeping the position for now.
Stuart keeping moving, preventing Hogan from controlling successfully.
Hogan slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Stuart wants to stand but Hogan is controlling the position.

We're going to have a standup here because Scott Hogan wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Hogan fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Stuart to the ground. Hogan is now in Stuart's guard.
Stuart is looking to stand up but Hogan isn't so interested in that idea.

Hogan pushes down on Stuart's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Stuart manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Stuart scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Hogan manages to mount him!
Stuart squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Hogan tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Hogan lands with some strikes.

Stuart tries to buck Hogan off but he can't manage it.
Hogan controlling the pace for now.
Hogan has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Stuart's face.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Stuart wants to get back to his feet.

Hogan jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Stuart is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Stuart and Hogan has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hogan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hogan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Stuart is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Hogan is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Stuart is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Hogan is looking to take a break and control but Stuart is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Hogan wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Stuart, who protects the arm well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Scott Hogan dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Stuart lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.


It looks like Scott Hogan has been cut.

Hogan moves into range and clinches up with Stuart.
Hogan jumps guard but Stuart stands there with Hogan around his waist. Hogan gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Stuart has Hogan pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Stuart pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Hogan tumbling to the mat - Stuart dives into Hogan's guard.
Hogan pulls Stuart in close to prevent any damage.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Scott Hogan has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Hogan blocks a head kick by Stuart.
Stuart stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Stuart wants it to stay on the feet.

Hogan looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Stuart!

Hogan looking to control and managing it successfully.

Stuart tries to buck Hogan off but Hogan takes his back!
Scott Hogan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Hogan slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Hogan has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Stuart covers up after that shot from Hogan.

Hogan is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Stuart holding both Hogan 's hands and preventing any damage.
Stuart is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Hogan.

Hogan has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Stuart has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Hogan fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Stuart sprawls well initially but Hogan persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Hogan lands strikes from half guard.
Hogan trying to mount his opponent but Stuart defends it.
Stuart is staying active underneath Hogan, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Stuart tries to kick Hogan off but Hogan keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Hogan is working for a kimura but Stuart is defending it quite comfortably.

Hogan perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Stuart is trying to stand up here but Hogan is controlling him well.

Matt Stuart has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Stuart won't allow Hogan to pass to mount.
Hogan throwing shots but Stuart is blocking nicely.
Hogan prevents Stuart from standing back up.
Stuart wants to stand back up but Hogan manages to pass into side control.
Hogan controls the position from side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hogan's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Hogan has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Stuart tries to buck Hogan off so he can stand up but Hogan has got his back now - this could be big trouble! He's slapped on a rear naked choke that looks really tight! Stuart falls backwards, slamming Hogan to the mat but Hogan holds on tight! Stuart is forced to tap and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:02 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Scott Hogan!
