Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rodrigo Sinistro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Iago Maldonado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo Sinistro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Iago Maldonado!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Matheus Silva and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maldonado gets a takedown into half guard.
Sinistro gets full guard.
Sinistro preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Sinistro keeping moving, preventing Maldonado from controlling successfully.
Maldonado wants to get up but he can't break Sinistro's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Maldonado really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sinistro. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sinistro trying to keep a closed guard but Maldonado is proving a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Maldonado wanted to stand there but Sinistro had control of the position.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Sinistro is fighting off a takedown attempt but Maldonado is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Sinistro to the mat. Sinistro regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Maldonado postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Sinistro is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Maldonado, into his guard.

Maldonado is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Sinistro is controlling him.

Maldonado wants to get back to striking at distance but Sinistro won't allow it.
Maldonado wants to break the clinch but can't.
Maldonado has had enough of the clinch but Sinistro keeps him there for the moment.
Sinistro drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Maldonado wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Sinistro has him pressed against the cage.

Maldonado rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sinistro moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Sinistro shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

and Maldonado counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Sinistro escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Maldonado gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Maldonado gets to his feet - Sinistro follows without any prompting.
Sinistro gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Maldonado to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Maldonado wants to control from the top but Sinistro keeps moving.
Sinistro pulls Maldonado in close to prevent any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Iago Maldonado dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Sinistro showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Maldonado.
Sinistro shoots in looking for a takedown but Maldonado manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sinistro's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Maldonado throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Sinistro counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Maldonado!

Sinistro landing strikes from the mount and Maldonado is in trouble!

Sinistro lands a big shot there that rocks Maldonado but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
