PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Evan Pike (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Gibson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Elvis Blanc and Gregory Folan.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gibson tries to clinch but Pike is having none of it.
Pike avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Gibson closes the distance and clinches.
Gibson prevents Pike from breaking the clinch.
Gibson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Pike fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Pike looks to land a right hand but Gibson moved out of range.

Pike is pressed up against the cage. Gibson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Pike down to the mat. Pike avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Horrible takedown by Gibson or perhaps it was just good defense by Pike which made him look bad.
Evan Pike has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Scott Gibson.
Gibson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Pike defends it nicely.

Pike lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gibson circles away quickly and effectively.

Gibson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Pike connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Gibson momentarily.

Pike throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

and Pike counters with a nice right hand that sends Gibson toppling to the canvas! Gibson scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Pike finish him?!

Pike displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gibson.
Evan Pike is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Gibson takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Pike ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Pike connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

That has opened up Scott Gibson's cut even more.

Pike cracks Gibson with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Gibson looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Pike finish him?

Pike works Gibson's body with a nice hook.
Pike misses the shot to the body.
Pike misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Gibson.
Pike swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Gibson.

Scott Gibson's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Scott Gibson's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
