PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Doc Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cameron Cole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cole has chosen Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Doc Patterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cameron Cole!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cole throws a right hand that misses
letting Patterson counter with a right hand.
Patterson lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Patterson gets a clinch.

Patterson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A shot to the body from Cole misses
and Patterson makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Patterson fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Cole misses with a lunging right hand
and Patterson counters with a big head kick but Cole shrugs it off.
Cole moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Cole misses with a few strikes there.
Cole throws a lazy uppercut
and Patterson makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Patterson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Patterson digs a good body shot into Cole's ribs.
Patterson throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Cole throws a sloppy body shot
and Patterson counters with an outside leg kick.
Cole takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Cole rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Patterson counters with a low kick, right behind Cole 's knee.
Cole takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Cole sizes up Patterson with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Cole throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Patterson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Patterson lands with a thumping leg kick.

Cole walks into a jab.
Patterson scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Cole doesn't seem bothered though.
Cole on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Patterson. Patterson obviously looking to wear him down.
Patterson thuds his right hand into Cole's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cole moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Patterson slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Patterson fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Cole has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Cole steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Patterson. That one must have hurt.

and Patterson counters with a nice leg kick.

Cole takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Patterson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Cole manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Patterson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Cole for as long as he can get away with.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Patterson throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Cole has had enough of the clinch but Patterson keeps him there for the moment.

Patterson turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Patterson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Cole can do to turn this around?

Cole is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Patterson asserts his dominance and retains side control.

We're going to have a standup here because Doc Patterson wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Patterson throws a combination. Cole tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Patterson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Cole is looking to stand up but Patterson isn't so interested in that idea.

Patterson is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Cole is defending well though. Patterson let's go of the attempt for now.
