PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between HP Lovecraft (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Terry Derry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lovecraft has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Bruno Lombardi and Steve Montenegro.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Derry shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Lovecraft pinned against the cage. Lovecraft gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Lovecraft misses with a straight right.
Derry scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Lovecraft is breathing heavily.
Derry with a lazy takedown attempt
and Lovecraft counters with a stiff right hand.
Derry shoots in for a takedown but Lovecraft shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
HP Lovecraft has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Terry Derry.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Derry lands a big head kick that sends Lovecraft tumbling to the mat! Derry takes a step backwards and waves Lovecraft back to his feet - he wants the finish!

HP Lovecraft's cut is getting worse.
Lovecraft slaps away a takedown attempt from Derry, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Derry tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Derry looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lovecraft is fending him off so far but Derry persists. Nope, Lovecraft circles away and we're back to standing.
Terry Derry seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Derry digs a good body shot into Lovecraft's ribs.
Derry is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Derry closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Derry controls the position.

Derry has hold of Lovecraft's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Lovecraft tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Derry cranks the arm and Lovecraft screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Lovecraft, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
