Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Martyn Paul Casey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Ruska (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dan Ruska will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruska throws a right hand that Casey ducks under and follows up with a left that Casey also avoids with ease.
Ruska throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

and Ruska counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Ruska looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Casey is avoiding damage well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Ruska thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ruska is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Ruska looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Casey keeps control of the position as Ruska tries to break free.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Ruska prevents his opponent from getting back to his feet.
Casey is trying to stick to Ruska's back but Ruska is turning into Casey. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Casey's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Ruska.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ruska loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Ruska shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Casey defends it nicely.
Ruska tries to close the distance and clinch but Casey swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ruska looks to land a left hand but Casey moved out of range nicely.
Ruska fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Casey manages to avoid it.

Dan Ruska seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ruska lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Casey circles away quickly and effectively.

Casey takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Ruska tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Casey manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Ruska connects with a leg kick. Casey looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ruska throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Ruska uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Casey has time to react.

Casey takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Dan Ruska showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Ruska, as that shot connected.

Ruska scores with a head kick. Casey tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Casey is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Casey. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Casey looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Nice uppercut lands for Ruska. That snapped Casey's head back.

Casey shoots for a double leg takedown but Ruska sprawls well. He's pushed Casey's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Good leg kick by Ruska there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Casey takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Casey takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Dan Ruska is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Casey is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ruska feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Casey's calf.

Dan Ruska comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ruska has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
