PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mr Ah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tomasz Drwal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ah comes to the cage accompanied by Drivin South. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mr Ah!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tomasz Drwal!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Aleksandr Martynov and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ah turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Drwal misses with a takedown attempt
and Ah counters with a nice low kick that buckles Drwal's knee momentarily.
Drwal looks gassed!
Drwal blocks a leg kick.
Drwal uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ah.
Ah darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Ah tries to close the distance and clinch but Drwal swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ah throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Ah fails with an attempt to clinch.
Drwal circles away from the clinch attempt.

Drwal shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Ah counters with a nice low kick that buckles Drwal's knee momentarily.
Ah scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Ah swings for the body but Drwal moves out of range.
Drwal uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ah.
Ah wants to clinch up but Drwal keeps it at a distance.
Ah tries to clinch up but Drwal circles away and keeps his distance.

Ah tries to clinch but Drwal is having none of it.
Ah moves in looking to clinch but Drwal pushes him off.

Ah throws a head kick that misses

and Drwal counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ah has Drwal pulled in close to control his posture.

Drwal postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Ah is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Drwal, into his guard.

Drwal looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Ah is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Drwal working for a triangle but Ah defends it easily.
Ah content to stall in guard here.
Ah tries to free his leg and advance position but Drwal is retaining full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Ah controlling from the top position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ah accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Drwal working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ah doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ah manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Ah avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Drwal can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ah controls the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mr Ah dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Ah lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Ah fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Drwal manages to avoid it.
Ah is looking to score with low kicks.
Drwal has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Ah.
Ah throws a push kick but Drwal slaps the foot to one side.
Ah swings for the body but Drwal moves out of range.
Ah lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Ah tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Drwal counters with a shoot takedown. Ah fights it but they end up in guard.
Ah pulls Drwal in close to prevent any damage.
Ah is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Drwal postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Ah is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Drwal, into his guard.
Ah not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Drwal has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Ah is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Drwal.
Ah knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Drwal on the ground.
Drwal is looking for a sweep.
Drwal is breathing heavily.
Ah is looking to take a break and control but Drwal is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Drwal sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Ah is trying to control the action in half guard but Drwal is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Well, if Ah is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Drwal tries to get to full guard but Ah has control of the leg.

We're going to have a standup here because Mr Ah wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Ah misses with a telegraphed body shot

and Drwal counters with a shoot takedown. Ah fights it but they end up in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Tomasz Drwal will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


The fight stays on the outside here - Ah looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

A looping hook to the body misses from Ah. Drwal does a little dance to reset his feet.
Ah shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Ah chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Ah scores with a push kick.
Ah fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Drwal manages to avoid it.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Ah, right into the meat.
Drwal swats away the attempt to clinch by Ah.

Ah jabs at Drwal's body.
Ah throws the kick towards the body but Drwal avoids it.
Ah connects with a leg kick. Drwal looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
That kick from Ah tenderised Drwal's leg. Drwal is trying to keep his angry face on.
Ah looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Ah throws a front kick that sends Drwal stumbling back into the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ah wants to clinch.
Ah misses with a body kick.
Drwal sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Drwal takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Ah is looking to wear down Drwal with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Ah fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Drwal manages to avoid it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ah is looking to clinch.
Ah throws the left hand but Drwal avoids the punch easily.
Drwal takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Ah misses with a hook.
Ah throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ah catches Drwal with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

And that's the end of the fight!
Mr Ah showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Ah has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
