The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Miyagi or perhaps it was just good defense by Leeroy which made him look bad.

Leeroy doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Miyagi counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Miyagi passes into side control, despite Leeroy's attempt to control the position.
You can see the frustration on Leeroy's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Leeroy seems a little lost for a moment, as Miyagi dominates the positioning.
Leeroy wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.
Leeroy tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Leeroy tries to improve position but can't.
Leeroy is trying to control Miyagi's posture but Miyagi avoids it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Leeroy can do anything to dispel that myth.
Leeroy might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Miyagi kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Miyagi has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Miyagi wants to take Leeroy's back but he can't do it this time.
Leeroy wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Leeroy tries to escape the position.
Miyagi is not going to allow Leeroy to sit and survive in this position.
What can Leeroy do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
